All the hard work now no way to bend
listening to the words they say
come now it is the end
No matter the pleas I send
there is nothing at end of day
Come now it is the end
Thought three lives I could blend
now there seems no way
All the hard work no way to bend
Time no more to lend
all in unison speaking nay
come now it is the end
Now my sorrow I tend
no keeping the sadness at bay
all the hard work no way to bend
Not knowing how I will fend
all that is left perhaps to pray
come now it is the end
all the hard work no way to bend

Everything is always slipping
slowly quickly like vapors of life
people who slip in and out
hours that slip slow and fast
Children that grow into men
time has no meaning
it’s just a human measure
because everything is still slipping
In constant motion our lives
always moving forward
everything slipping
while we stand and watch
To remember that we die only once
yet live every day
do so before all we know
is slipping away

New year tho nothing truly is
same it seems but for a date
and a year to grow older
not much new in this
Opportunity is new
chance to change, grow
choices yet to make
new roads to travel
New time once again given
tho not a guarantee
to make each moment new
for another may not come
Day 1 to be as happy
as you make your mind up to be
new yes same yes
it’s all in what you see

Tis the season of giving and receiving
of presents wrapped and trees lit
stockings filled and food and drink
and a celebration of Christ
But also tis the season of need and want
of no presents or trees
no stockings or food
but Christ remains
Tis the season of love
where sharing with others is the gift
remembering the why of Jesus birth
for ALL he came
Tis the season to share
the gift is just that you care
take time to reach out
it could change your life and theirs

Excitement new
time has come
ready to begin
beginnings again
Fresh new faces
from different places
coming together
sharing the free verse
Beginnings fresh
writing new
words shared
between me and you

Trickling closer dark tendrils
icy along your skin
unseen around your heart
chill that fills your soul
Dark no light to find
they seek the corners
waiting for the next body
watching from the black

We become wounded by what is said
injured by what is done
because we let it happen
Petty people with small minds
creating harm with word and deed
in their own unhappiness
We let the whispers cut us
and let the actions touch our emotions
as they continue to gossip
This harm can only hurt if we let
we choose what where when how
they are of no consequence

We have all met them along the line
the ones who smile to our face
pretend to be friends and yet
mutter behind our backs
Those who try to seek out secrets
from you about you about others
so they can mutter them under their breath
gossipmonger that they are
One face in front another in back
never to be trusted always waiting to attack
twisting turning the words always churning
a cauldron of bubbling wickedness
They mutter what they truly think
when they think you can’t hear
or because they want you to just to try
and get a response
Insecure and filled with self loathing
transferring those feelings onto everyone else
they mutter because they can’t speak the truth
when into the mirror they look

If for every thought or every word
we might just pause before we think
a moment before we speak
would we change direction
A simple pause could save the pain
our thoughts and words might do
and we could change them in our
hearts before the pause was done
Each time we judge another’s life
and the words are formed within
if just one pause we could take
before the hurt begins
Pause to love
pause to think
pause to change direction
just a moment is all it takes

Strings that connect us
bind us together with energy
a touch on one is a touch on all
the vibrations extend to the infinite
A kindness done to one
becomes new to another
traveling down the strings
to reach strangers untold
Choices made in this moment
become roads taken paths traveled
down the long life strings
affecting all some small some large
Strings that resonate far beyond your space
to reach into the hearts minds lives of the many
actions of the one touching the infinite
connected never ending
