Once there was only a part
a piece of a life
convinced it was all there was
drifting alone
Believing it was fine
to be this way forever
just a deceit
because it was never true
A part, a piece nothing more
a life half lived
searching trying to find
something, someone
Found and now together
one part you one part me
knowing this forever
one plus one makes a whole

The way you love me
every day by saying you do
sending me notes just
to say so
The way you love me
making me laugh a lot
whether I want to
or not
The way you love me
sharing the daily load
as we together
walk this road
The way you love me
more every day
I love that you
love me this way

Grass so green like each stem painted
the dirt richly red
lines of chalk white as the snow
and in the air the smell of sunshine
Cloudless sky bluer than the ocean
gently the breeze surrounds
oiled leather mixed with the perfume of doing work
spilling over into me
Popcorn and cotton candy
the smell of the grill
an ice cold beer that melts away
the tastes of the game
Cheers and groans
the battle ensues
as the afternoon drifts
my own piece of heaven

Tis the season of giving and receiving
of presents wrapped and trees lit
stockings filled and food and drink
and a celebration of Christ
But also tis the season of need and want
of no presents or trees
no stockings or food
but Christ remains
Tis the season of love
where sharing with others is the gift
remembering the why of Jesus birth
for ALL he came
Tis the season to share
the gift is just that you care
take time to reach out
it could change your life and theirs

Molten gold now hard and cold
Tiny sparkles of light lined in twisted rows
Wrapping their arms around a center star
Like a galaxy filled with unnumbered delights
The finger grows older more lined
The love grows sweeter and more refined
The golden sparkle remains with a new owner
One filled with memories of the wearer who came before

Heat filled days that smolder
the air lapping like tongues of flame
breathing becomes harder to control
each touch a burn to the skin
The flames continue into the night
nothing takes the burn away
now inside and out the fire consumes
rest and start again
The fuel of pent up yesterdays
waiting for the flames to lick
tasting the untouched the fire spreads
leaving behind only the smolder
In the embers the fire is still hot
hidden waiting for the next spark
the next breath so passionately breathed
the burn of this desire

Through this maze of darkened struggle
at times lost and still others found
the walk long the truth is not easy
just trying to get up off the ground
Nagging at the corners never quiet
the past it whispers you are there
inside it we try to find the way
afraid to share
We try to run it winds ever still
this heart maze ever changing never finished
all that come in truly never leave
the pieces found along the way
Struggle against the infinity
where is the place without whispers
the twists and turns and on it goes
slaves we have become continuing to walk

It whispers across my soul in the slightest touch
seeping into my heart wanting it so much
breathing in my spirit all consuming fire
filling every part rivers of desire
The whispers become louder my soul begins to ache
my heart cries out waiting for you to take
the spirit waits to be fulfilled
my body yearning just to yield
The whispers become screams as passion overflows
the heart an intensity no one knows
my spirit filled to bursting crying out for more
the body shaken to the core
It whispers in the aftermath a tingle and a hum
my heart surrounded by everything love and then some
my spirit satisfied and filled with love complete
my body where we two lovers meet

Lies are not only those spoken
not only promises broken
also those kept hidden
omission and yet the same
The secrets kept in the dark
ones that eat away at the heart
knowing the truth saying it never
lies that reside in forever
Thinking it’s okay to keep them quiet
believing they are not really lies
because you never say them out loud
knowing they are yet keeping them still
It is the omission that tears the soul
eats away at the love that once was
even worse than those spoken
it’s the quiet lies that leave us broken

For most it’s just a word in poems or cards
something casually thrown around by those in love
a platitude overused and poorly so
with little thought to what it really means
Those that will say forever to try and prove their love
others who say it to try and hold on to false love
even more who use it as part of their lies
none of them caring the pain it causes when it’s over
But then there are those who know what it means
who truly feel it in their souls
when they say it they honestly believe it
it’s not just a word for them
Those that toss it around casually are many
the others who truly know what it means are few
I’ve had plenty of the first kind and the pain they bring
which is why I am truly thankful for you and a love that is true
