Everything

So many people want so many things they look right past what’s already there

things that they want too much and never get bypassing everything in front of them

pushing and pushing for things that will never be a reality in their lives

while letting the things they already have slip through their fingers

It’s always the grass is greener or if I only had this or that life would be perfect

but they fail to realize their life is already the best it can be

they walk right past the people who love them most

and try to find someone better someone they want more

They run right by all the things staring them in the face trying to find that elusive something else

and they inevitably end up without the things they thought they wanted and losing all that they had

you can only bypass the ones who care for you most for so long before they let go

and in the end it is you who is less by wanting something you had all along

Holy Crap DEB!!! I was a fan before and had been to your site but I may need to sit down with a bottle of V.O. and cool out on this page and site for a minue to take all of this in – my goodness you have a lot of really good poems too and the sporrts stuff? Seriously how is it that you aren’t a bigger name and working for a serious writing entity or are you and I’m missing that I’m actually a little overwhealmed by your site. I had no idea your writing is actually better than I have ever given it credit for and I loved it before – think you should be collecting chips for all the writing that you post!

Can’t tell you how much I needed to hear that affirmation today – feeling tired and worn down. I have written poetry for years, since the age of about 14. It was and still is my first love in writing. I only started sports writing in my 30s. I keep writing, hoping someone will give me an actual real paying job for it. I’ve been doing it for so long now, starting to get a little discouraged. But I appreciate your words and your support. If you want to read more of my poetry I have about half a million that are posted on MySpace in the blog there lol

Things of the past, stop and listen to your heart, it will carry you along. Hard path for many I guess. Magnificent. 🙂

So true. I think it’s important that people stop and notice what they have rather than focus on what they want. 🙂

It’s kind of like the old saying “you never know what you have until it’s gone.” People can walk right by everything they have in pursuit of everything they want. Thank you for reading 🙂
