Crystal clear
shining in moonlight
preserving everything
hiding nothing

encased quiet
wrapped and solid
closed yet open
like fossils

looks fragile
only to warmth
growing stronger
getting colder

covering all
yet hiding nothing
if only life
were like ice

Winter but not quite
bright sun
still green
no white
waiting wishing
still warm
little chill
something missing
little tease
once or twice
not lasting
thaw unfreeze
now December
Christmas coming
where when
winter but not quite
