There’s nothing left of the past now
no memories, no feelings
erased as if it never was
cleansed of every moment
Nothing left now as if it were dead
and you along with it as well
all the hurt and the lies
as vapor in the sky
Finally nothing there left at all
all the past as a rain washed clean
no traces to be found
to start anew is all that remains
Nothing now finally free
no part of it living
gone and forgotten removed from me
nothing….nothing…nothing

So interesting how poetry can be interpreted so many different ways – I think that is what makes good poetry so good… for me I feel longing and shadows of regret and wishes lost in memories and from that comes the inevitably of accepting there is nothing and moving on is the only option… and while it is good to be free, it is also so sad. Thank you Deborah, I often read your writing – it often resonates.

This has a “so there” and “take that!” feeling to it that I just love! A kick-to-the-ass punchiness that serves me well. It gives me satisfaction in its well-expressed sense of satisfaction. Good one!
